The 2012 Mustang Invitational

Saturday January 7th

WE ARE PROUD TO BE AN NIETOC BID TOURNAMENT. PLEASE SEE nietoc.com FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Please note that this year the tournament is moved to Saturday and is speech only. Debate at Millard North will be held in February. There is a debate tournament at Millard South High School on Sat Jan 7th also, which is in our district and about 5 miles away. Schools wishing to enter students in their debate tournament and other students in our speech tournament would be able to do so easily.

Individual Events

There will be three preliminary rounds and finals for individual events.  There will be Champs finals (1st through 6th) and Honors finals (7th-12th place) in all events that the numbers justify. If numbers are large enough in the NIETOC events to justify a quarters bid a Merit final for 13th-18th will also be held. Competitors may double enter in all events. No competitor may triple enter unless they are entered in the triathlon competition. See Triathlon rules under events. No competitor may use the same script or parts of the same script in more than one event. A “Novice” is defined as a student who has not competed in forensics in competition before Aug. 2011, no matter the event. There will be no novice division in DUO.

Judges:

You must provide one adult judge for every 5 entries in individual events, including novice. If you have a highly qualified varsity member who is not competing and wishes to judge novice division, I will accept one varsity judge per team. YOU MUST MAKE CLEAR THAT THEY ARE A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WHO CAN ONLY JUDGE NOVICES AND YOU MAY ONLY BRING ONE. You may hire a portion of a judge for $10.00 per individual slot you haven’t covered. PLEASE try to bring judges.

Awards

Individual Events: Trophies for 1st through 3rd, medals for 4th through 12th. Sweepstakes trophies for 1st through 3rd place teams. Ribbons for first and second in each round will also be given.

Entry Deadline

Entries must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tues. January 3rd. Due to the holidays it might be best for many of you to have kids commit before break. Please help us avoid mass drops and changes the week of the tournament. NO ADDS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES. Also, registration will close early if we are out of room.
