This tournament has been cancelled due to weather.
It is our pleasure to invite you to the Larry Niedhardt Invitational Speech Tournament on Friday, February 3 at Kearney High School. The competition will include three rounds and finals.
EVENT INFORMATION

1. Extemp prep is 1/2 hour.
2. Either concrete, problem/solution persuasive OR inspirational oratories are acceptable. Either format does not require a solution.
3. Poetry can use any pattern of organization that works, with either poems separated by transitions and introductory material, or a poetry program that has all the introductions at the beginning and spliced poems with no breaks.
4. Either duo interpretation or duet acting is permissible in the same event, with a ten to twelve minute window of acceptability. Duos can use multiple characters, off-stage focus, lack of touching. NO lowering in rank for a 9:30 duo, which is fine!
5. Monologues or character dialogues are acceptable in serious and humorous prose.
In short, a great speech is a great speech, in whatever genre the student has chosen to write it, NSAA or NFL rules. Please be flexible either way.
TRIPLE ENTRIES ALLOWED/ ENTRY CAPS
Students may triple-enter in speech events, only if both the coach and the student feel the competitor is able to adhere to the rigorous schedule and not delay the tournament. Fees are $8 per Speech entry. We will set a maximum of six entries from your school per event. A wait list will be formed after that. We have 65 usable rooms at KHS.
Awards will be given for first through sixth places in finals, with two sweepstakes trophies presented to schools.
Entries are due by Tuesday, January 31 at 5 p.m. After that date, only drops and substitutions may be made. We will be using the Joy of Tournaments website for registration: www.joyoftournaments.com.
IT IS IMPERATIVE FOR OUR CENTRAL OFFICE AND BOOKKEEPERS THAT YOU WRITE ONE CHECK TO KEARNEY HIGH SPEECH, AND ONE CHECK TO KEARNEY HIGH DEBATE IF YOU ARE COMPETING BOTH DAYS.
