    presents

The Second Annual

-IN PARTNERSHIP WITH-

The John C. Stennis Center for Public Service

Dear Friends:

Greetings from the MSU Speech & Debate Council!  It is our pleasure to invite you to the Second Annual Cowbell Classic on the campus of Mississippi State University on March 2nd and 3rd, 2018.  We hope you and your squad will consider joining us for a great weekend of competition.

We are excited to announce that this year's Classic will be a bid tournament to the 2018 National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC)!  So for those of you seeking qualifying legs, come on down (or up) and enjoy our hospitality.

We also are delighted that the John C. Stennis Center for Public Service will once again be partnering with the Council in presenting this year’s tournament.  The Stennis Center is nationally renowned for its support of student congress, and will again be providing top-notch legislation for both prelims and finals on a wide array of issues.

We will follow the standard MHSAA tournament format, with Student Congress being held on Friday alongside other debate prelims.  This allows all debaters --including congressional debaters-- to enter up to three individual events on Saturday, while still participating in debate elimination rounds.  As with other MHSAA tournaments, POI and Informative will replace Storytelling and Expository this year.

Finally, thanks again to the generous support of the Stennis Center, we will once again offer top notch awards, including speaker awards for all debate events, top three sweeps awards in debate and overall divisions, and top three overall individual performer awards.

So please join us in March for a weekend of fun, learning, and great competition. Hail State!

                                                                        Warmest regards,

The MSU Speech & Debate Council
