Sponsored by the Apple Valley High School Forensics Team, Parent Boosters, and American Legion Post 1776
August 15, 2009
Dear Debate Coach:
On behalf of the Apple Valley Forensics Team, Parent Boosters, and the Apple Valley American Legion Post 1776, we would like to invite you and your team to attend the 24th annual MinneApple Debate Tournament on November 6 and 7th. Last year, 315 Lincoln Douglas debaters in three divisions and 45 Public Forum teams from 60 schools and 17 states joined us. We would be honored to have you be a part of this event.
The strong tradition of both the Forensics Team and the debate tournament has made the MinneApple one of the
largest debate tournaments in the Midwest. The MinneApple is committed to providing an efficient tournament with great hospitality, strong competition, and superior judging. The MinneApple is proud to offer Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum debate. We offer three divisions of LD and an open division of Public Forum. The MinneApple is a Tournament of Champions qualifier at the octafinal level in LD & at the octafinal level in Public Forum.
In an effort to continually improve the tournament we are offering
mutual judge preference in varsity LD debate, doubles or octafinal elimination rounds in all divisions, marble apples to all debaters in elimination rounds, Varsity LD Speaker Awards, two complimentary meals, and shuttle buses on Friday take JV and Novice LD debaters as well as Public Forum debaters to their competition sites. In addition, on Saturday, buses will return LD debaters to the elimination rounds at AVHS.
Note: if you are an out-of-state school and are in need of housing for debaters, we will try to accommodate you by providing a night's stay in the home of an AVHS debater. Please place your housing request no later than October 2nd. Requests will be honored in the order submitted. Space is limited. All requests are to be made directly to our housing coordinator KZ Koboski (debatehousing@koboski.net), not AVHS debaters. We will honor as many requests as we can.
We look forward to seeing you at the MinneApple!
Sincerely,
Pam Cady Wycoff
