Dear Friends,
The Mid-America Forensic League concludes its season with MAFL 7 and MAFL 8, to be hosted by Northern Illinois University in Dekalb on Saturday, February 27, 2010 and by Bradley University on the NIU campus Sunday, February 28, 2010. Don't forget that the MAFL Sunday schedule always starts one hour earlier than the Saturday schedule.
Note that Saturday (MAFL #7) is the designated charity MAFL for the semester. As a result, certificates will be awarded instead of trophies. ALSO, MAFL 7 will recognize the top novice in each event so please make sure any novices you entered are marked as such.
Entries: Each school may enter 6 students per event. Each student may enter up to 4 events. Because of the 1 hour and fifteen minute time limit for each round, it is strongly recommended that students are only double-entered and not tripled-entered for a pattern. It is the responsibility of the student to make it to their rounds on time. Judges cannot wait past the time allotted for the round. Students may not do all 4 events in one pattern.
Entries are due Tuesday, February 23 by 5:00 p.m. At that point, you will no longer be able to make changes to your entry online. No additional entries will be accepted, but drops should be phoned or emailed to me ASAP.
Membership Dues: If this is your first MAFL of the season, remember that you will need to pay your seasonal membership dues of 150.00. This payment entitles your school to attend the 2009-2010 MAFLs.
Also, remember that the fee structure has changed. Uncovered slots are now $10 each, with all $10 going directly to hired judges. In addition, once a school reaches 20 uncovered slots, the fee changes from $10 to $20 each.
Finally, there will be a coaches meeting over the weekend to discuss host sites for the 2010-2011 MAFL season.
Yours very truly,
Dan Smith
Executive Secretary, MAFL
