Dear Friends:
The Mid-America Forensic League continues its season with MAFL 5 and MAFL 6, to be hosted by Minnesota State University - Mankato on Saturday, January 30, 2010 and by South Central College in North Mankato on Sunday, January 31, 2010. Many thanks to our hosts Leah White and Jim Dimock at MSU, and Brian Klosa at SCC.
Don't forget that the MAFL Sunday schedule always starts one hour earlier than the Saturday schedule AND runs all final rounds at once.
Finally, please remember that MAFL #5 will be the FOOD DRIVE TOURNAMENT. This means that each school is responsible for providing at least one canned good for EVERY slot entered in the tournament.
Each school may enter 6 students per event. Each student may enter up to 4 events. Because of the 1 hour and fifteen minute time limit for each round, it is strongly recommended that students are only double-entered and not tripled-entered for a pattern. It is the responsibility of the student to make it to their rounds on time. Judges cannot wait past the time allotted for the round. Students may not do all 4 events in one pattern.
Entries are due Tuesday, January 26, 2010 by 5:00 p.m. At that point, you will no longer be able to make changes to your entry online. No additional entries will be accepted, but drops should be phoned or emailed to me ASAP.
If this is your first MAFL of the season, remember that you will need to pay your seasonal membership dues of $150.00. This payment entitles your school to attend the remaining 2009-2010 MAFLs.
Uncovered slots are $10 each, with all $10 going directly to hired judges. In addition, once a school reaches 20 uncovered slots, the fee changes from $10 to $20 each.
Yours very truly,
Dan Smith
Executive Secretary, MAFL
