Policy Debate Semifinals TOC Bid

Dear Colleague:

 

On behalf of the Homewood-Flossmoor Debate Team, we would like to invite you to attend the 46th annual Homewood-Flossmoor Viking Classic debate tournament.  The tournament will run Friday, Feburary 22-Sunday, February 24.  Our tournament will include Policy Debate competition at the Varsity and Novice levels.  Again this year, the tournament has been certified as a Tournament of Champions Qualifier at the semifinals level.

 

Both divisions will have six preliminary rounds, and will break to octafinalsor  double octafinals, depending on the final numbers.  We are anticipating having a great turnout, and are very excited for all of you to attend.  Please register as soon as possible – the deadline for registration is Friday, February 15, at which time registration on joyoftournaments.com will be closed and teams will be charged drop fees for teams dropping after that time.  Changes made after that time must be emailed to jschoene@gmail.com (PLEASE use HF DEBATE as the subject line).  Teams requesting hired judges BEFORE Friday, February 10 will be given priority for hired judges - at any rate, NO HIRED JUDGES will be found if those hired judges are requested after Feburary 10.  YOU MUST SPECIFICALLY REQUEST A HIRED JUDGE IF YOU WOULD LIKE ONE.

Format:              

6 rounds – Breaking to either double-octafinals or octafinals depending on the numbers. 

Fees:                     

 

$50 for Novice Policy; $80 for Varsity Policy

Judging:               

Every team will need to provide one full judge for every two teams they enter in Policy.

A LIMITED number of hired judges will be available at the rate of $200/full judge. 

Deadline for hired judges will be Friday, February 10, one week PRIOR to the regular deadline, and two weeks prior to the tournament.  YOU MUST EMAIL jschoene@gmail.com to request hired judges AND you must HEAR BACK before assuming your request can be met.  IF YOU DO NOT CONTACT the tournament administrator, DO NOT just ASSUME you will have hired judges available to you.

We will be unable to cover judge hiring requests made after this deadline.

Meals:                   

Snacks, lunch and dinner  will be available for purchase Friday and Saturday.
