You are cordially invited to attend the City Classic Debates, beginning Janurary 27th, 2012 at 4:30pm and concluding January 28th, 2012 around 8pm. 

We're very excited for the return of our tournament this year for a few of reasons:

First, we offer several speech events that provide an opportunity for IE speakers to perform ahead of IHSSA District Speech and NFL District Speech, both held in February.

Second, for policy debaters and the general public we offer "A Planetary, Space Science, and Physics Symposium" with NASA researcher and University of Iowa Prof. Craig Kletzing, and a discussion of the present and future state of nanotechnology with Prof. Michael Flatte beginning at 8pm on Friday night.

Third, we offer consolation debates to any team that achieves a winning record in debate.  A consolation round in speech events is also offered.

Fourth, Tower Trophies!  We will present replicas of the famous City High Tower, shown at right, in full 3D, to the first place finishers in all event divisions and to all first place speakers.  City's tower was modelled in the 1930's on Iowa City's "Old Capitol" tower and is an iconic part of east Iowa City's cityscape.
