Colleagues:

You are cordially invited to attend the Dowling Catholic Paradigm December 9-11, 2011.  This tournament is the largest in the state of Iowa and features competition in all speech and debate events.  Every year the tournament grows and attracts competitors from outside the state and region.  We are extremely excited about the attendance of schools for this year's tournament and hope that you attend.

The tournament features a semi-finals bid in Policy Debate, a semi-finals bid in LD Debate and an octafinals bid in Public Forum.  On top of that the fields of competition for Speech and Congress are among the best in the nation.  Students have the opportunity to compete against some of the finest competitors in the country regardless of the event they enter.  Annually students who attend our tournament are in semi-finals and finals of the NFL Speech tournament and we have had attendees of the Dowling Catholic Paradigm go onto win NFL Nationals or place in the top six in debate events.  The tournament is truly a worthwhile learning opportunity for any student.

It is extremely exciting that we offer novice debate divisions for Policy and Lincoln-Douglas debate.  While we are a national circuit tournament, we want to help the activity grow and continue to exist.  We hope to provide novices with an amazing tournament experience that will encourage them to continue in the activity.  Returning to the Paradigm this year is also a JV Policy Division.  There is a movement in the state of Iowa to create a JV division to give second and third year teams with limited traveling experience or camp exposure the ability to get rounds in and be competitive.  Please see the information portion of the website for more information on the division and do not hesitate to email Tim Sheaff with any questions (tsheaff@dowling.pvt.k12.ia.us). 

The coaches, parents and students of the Dowling Catholic Speech and Debate program are looking forward to the 12th annual Dowling Catholic Paradigm.
