Importing Prior Tournament Data

1. Set up a new tournament. From the 'File' menu, select 'New'.
   
   
2. Select 'File' and then 'Properties' from the menu. Name the tournament ("Sample Tournament" in this screen shot). Make sure that the start and end dates are appropriate for the new tournament (10/15/04 and 10/16/04 in this example).
   
   
   
   
3. Pick an appropriate spot on your computer to save the new tournament. Pick 'File' and then 'Save As' from the menu.
   
   
4. From the 'File' menu, select 'Administration' and then 'Import Prior Tournament Data'.
   
   
   
   
5. Click on the 'Select Tournament' button. Find the location of the 'prior' tournament. Open the appropriate '.trn' file for the 'prior' tournament.
   
   
6. Once the 'prior' tournament has been selected, the name of the 'prior' tournament will be displayed along with the dates of the 'prior' tournament. Select the options you want to import into the 'new' tournament.

   In most cases, you will probably import the Events, Sweeps, Schedule, and Rooms from the prior tournament and that is all. Options are also available to pull in the list of schools from the previous tournament as well as the judges. Both the 'Schools' and 'Judges' options have been developed for a specific tournament and are unlikely to be generally useful. For the majority of tournaments, the schools and judges should be coming from the website registration.

   
   
   
   

7. Press OK to perform the import. Once the option has completed, the information you have selected will be placed inside the 'new' tournament.
