The University School Debate Team invites you to the final SFCFL preliminary tournament of the year. Remember, in order to have a student compete at the Grand Final Tournament, March 19-20, he/she must compete in a SFCFL tournament (North Miami - 10/10; Taravella – 11/14; Coral Springs - 12/12; or Douglas - 2/21). A Student in Congress must have spoken at least once and all other competitors must have ranks for all rounds in the tournament. If these requirements have not been met, a student is not eligible for the Grand Final tournament. Remember, Grand Finals is the qualifying tournament for the National CFL tournament in Omaha, NE during the weekend of May 27-31, 2010.
NOTE THE CHANGES FOR THIS TOURNAMENT:
All students are eligible to compete in their main event; students who won trophies or plaques can compete in the event in which they won an award. We are anticipating that you are preparing for Grand Finals.
Entries: 8 per event, but 6 in Team Debate, Novice Public Forum, and Varsity Public
Forum; all events other than NPF/VPF are mixed varsity and novice.
Events offered: TD, LD, NPF, VPF, MX, OO, OI, DEC, DUO, DP, SC,
Entry fees: $12.00 per student (entry includes lunch) payable to SFCFL – no double entering
Judges: 1 per every 2 LD/TD/PFD or fraction thereof, and 1 for every 5 IE (including Congress). Large squads with more than 35 IE competitors need only 7 IE judges. NO high school judges.
Congress agenda: email (mschick@dadeschools.net) bill/resolution titles by Wed. Feb. 10.(remember Harvard/Berkeley). I will try to post them on this site(under the link "legislation.) as soon as I receive them. No more than 2 Bill/resolution titles per school, please.
Lunch: This is a closed campus tournament; if you or your student leave campus, your entire team is subject to being disqualified.
Douglas is offering lunch with chips and soda; Choices include, tuna, turkey, veggie, and Italian. Please order your lunch choices on the web site. Don't forget to order lunch for your judges which will be a pasta buffet. Lunch choices must be made by Tues. Feb. 16.
Registration: Register online at www.joyoftournaments.com. Entries will be accepted through Tuesday, Feb. 16. (Again, remember Harvard) Please make certain to enter all students and judges. Entry fees will assessed from Tuesday, Feb. 16 and online registration will close Tues. Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. After that time, please
e-mail me any drops/changes/judge names. Drops/changes will be assessed $2.00 (in addition to the entry fee) on Friday and $5.00 on the day of the tournament.
Sat. Registration: 7 a.m. ending promptly at 7:45 a.m. Signs will be posted for Registration, judges, and Extemp. Prep.
Forfeit Rules: All rounds will be subject to judge-arrival-plus-ten-minutes forfeit rule for students.

From the North or South: take I 95 north to I 595. Go west on I 595 to Unviersity. Exit onto University going south. Take University to SW 30th. St. Turn left onto SW 30th. St. and go just past the Dolphin's Training Center. You will see University School on the right side of the street.; there is a large parking garage in front of the Sonken Building.
From the far South: Take the turnpike from the south (Homestead Extension) north
to I 75 (exit says to Naples). Take I 75 to I 595 and go east to University, then follow the above directions.
