IMPORTANT: COACHES PLEASE SUBMIT THE NAMES OF YOUR FOUR YEAR SENIORS!!
Do this by

entering them in the 4YR event (pattern E)

You are NOT charged for this event

 

COACH REQUIREMENT: 

IF You, the coach of record, are NOT going to be attending the tournament, you must send either an employee representing your school and have them check in your team at the beginning of the tournament.

IF You, the coach of record, are sending a volunteer and/or parent to care for your team.  You MUST have a letter from your school, signed by your principal indicating the person you are sending is the official "chaperone" of your team for the day.  The letter must be turned in to the tournament director prior to the beginning of the tournament.   Failure to do so may result in your student not being allowed to compete

WHOMEVER you put in charge of your team should have the student emergency medical forms / permission slips / parent contact forms for your team.  Protect your students, yourself and your "representative"

 

 

 Weekend #1

When: Friday – Sunday, March 2-4 for pattern A, B, C

Where: CalStateLong Beach for pattern A, B, C

Events: All California individual events, Lincoln Douglas Debate and Policy Debate, Parli Debate, Congress

Patterns: Students may enter no more than one event in each pattern.  The patterns are:

                        Pattern A: OO, OA, OI, TI, HI, IMP, Congress

                        Pattern B: NX, IX, DI, DUO, EXPOS, OPP

                        Pattern C: LD, Policy

Entries: Are due to the Joy of Tournaments website by no later than 5pm on Feb 24. Preliminary entries should be entered ASAP to provide for estimates

WEEKEND #2

When: Saturday, March 10 for pattern D (SCHURR  HS). 
Pattern D:  Parli, PF, Cong (These events will be held 3/10 at SCHURRHigh)

Non-qualifying Pattern:  Congress/PF/Parli - these events will be held at SCHURR  High, and WILL NOT qualify students to state... They are ONLY FOR PRACTICE. Ask Chris or Dave questions if you have any...

  

Entries: Are due to the Joy of Tournaments website by no later than 5pm on 3/8 – Preliminary entries should be entered ASAP to provide for estimates

 

 

 

Judges:
For the March 2-4 tournament all judges will be provided by CalStateLong Beach – Schools need not bring judges. 
 For the March 10 tournament schools will need to bring 1 judge for every 2 debate entries, and one judge for every 6 congress entries. Judges will be paid.

 

 

 

 

Fees: $6 per entry ($12 for DUO/POLICY/PARLI/PUBLIC FORUM) these will be billed after this tournament.

 

Eligibility: In order to be eligible for competition schools must have:

                                    1. Paid outstanding fees from the 2010-2011 school year         

                                    2. Paid their $50 league dues (first year programs exempt)

                                    3. Paid their CHSSA dues

                                    4. Competed at Spring Varsity, or in the Varsity division at Spring Debate – Schools will get four entries at state quals for each eligible (varsity entry) at Spring Varsity/Spring Debate.

                                    5. Schools wishing to enter any IE with the exception of extemp, impromptu, must have submitted by Feb. 11th and had approved their state quals script complete with the signed official coversheets.

                                    6.  ALL SCRIPT CORRECTIONS must be received by Brett by no later than Feb. 28… NO SCRIPTS WILL BE CHECKED OR APPROVED AT THE TOURNAMENT!

                                                            A FEW REMINDERS

1.      No food is to be taken into the rooms at any time.

2.     Students are not to enter the rooms without a judge.  Students failing to follow this rule will be disqualified.
