Judges:
Please provide one judge for every two CX teams entered, or fraction thereof. One judge covers 3 LD teams, or fraction thereof. A judge only covers one type of debate. All judge quotas apply to all four rounds. This means that if you have three teams in CX, you must bring two CX judges for all four rounds to cover your obligation. If you have one CX team and one LDer, you must bring 2 judges, each round, all 4 rounds.
All judge information (Name and time slot) MUST be entered in Joy of Tournaments by the registration deadline. There is the option to mark your judges AM or PM, please check both if they are judging all day. Please get all information in as you will hold up the tournament if we have to make a significant number of changes at the tournament. If you do not know all of your judge names simply enter fictitious names for your judges and then tell your parents to pick up the ballot for that name. For example, if I didnt know who was covering one of me LD judge slots for the AM and PM, I could put the name "Charlie Batch" into the computer for the entire day. I would then tell the AM judge I assigned for that slot that they should pick up the ballot for "Charlie Batch" and I would tell the PM judge that they should also pick up the ballot with the name "Charlie Batch." The key to this working is that your judges know they shouldn't be looking for a ballot with their name on it if you didn't enter their name directly into the system.
Coach Responsibility:
Each school is REQUIRED to have a coach or experienced adult to help with tab room duties, and given the size of the tournament, we will put them all to use! This is on top of your judging quotas. So, for example, if you have one CX team, you must have one judge all day to cover that team, and a coach there all day (through the start of awards). You must also have a legal chaperon that has been authorized by the school - if needed, we may ask you to produce a letter from the principal or school, signifying that the chaperon is authorized to represent the school, has been trained in all school procedures for emergencies, and the school understands that its team is entered under its school name and bears liability. Usually this chaperon is also the coach in tab room.
AWARDS
Awards will be given to all undefeated debaters in all divisions.
