PLEASE NOTE: We will close this tournament on Wednesday September 22, 2009 at 5pm. Any changes that need to be made after that date will need to be e-mailed or phoned to me. The time of year has come once again to begin the Speech and Debate Season 2009-2010. I know I am speaking for most of you when I tell you how excited we at Snowflake are to get things started, and we want to get the season started off right.
To me there can be no better opener than at Snowflake High School, and we would like to invite you to come join in the fun.
We are a small 3A school so space is limited, but for those of you looking to escape the heat of the city into the beautiful and cool White Mountains, we suggest you make plans early and register early.
We are offering all events this year, except policy debate and congress in a regular tournament atmosphere. In IE’s students will be allowed to carry books and scripts without penalty. Additionally, we are going to ask judges to disclose at the end of rounds and critique in debate. We want kids to experience the atmosphere of a full-blown tournament but get the experience that comes from a practice tournament.
We will also be serving a Bar-B-Que at noon on Saturday for all coaches and participants. We have done this in the past and everyone has a great time. There will be the usual set of individual awards and a first, second and third place sweepstakes trophy. What a great way to start the season off.
